Installing cushion flooring around toilet. This method is not the best way to install cushion flooring, but it should last for years if done correctly.
-
Inspect and prepare the floorboards
-
Nail or screw down any loose boards.
-
Remove nails, staples, protrusions.
-
Sand any high spots; fill deep gaps (“feather”) with a suitable timber-floor filler (if timber floor boards) or grout for tiles or self-levelling compound compatible with timber and adhesive.
-
Clean thoroughly: remove dust, debris, old adhesive, paint splashes etc.
-
-
Fill in Gaps
-
After boards are secure, fill any large gaps or unevenness with a suitable filler—ensure it is compatible with the vinyl adhesive and will not shrink or crack.
Fill gaps / level surface (Grout for tiles/filler for floorboards)
-
Allow adequate drying/cure time
-
-
Apply a NON-POROUS SURFACE PRIMER
-
Mapei Eco Prim Grip (best)
-
Ardex P82 / P51
-
Bostik UltraPrime
This bonds the vinyl adhesive to the tile surface so it never slips.
