Install Cushion Floor Over Floorboards/or Tiles

Installing cushion flooring around toilet. This method is not the best way to install cushion flooring, but it should last for years if done correctly.

  1. Inspect and prepare the floorboards

    • Nail or screw down any loose boards.

    • Remove nails, staples, protrusions.

    • Sand any high spots; fill deep gaps (“feather”) with a suitable timber-floor filler (if timber floor boards) or grout for tiles or self-levelling compound compatible with timber and adhesive.

    • Clean thoroughly: remove dust, debris, old adhesive, paint splashes etc.

  2. Fill in Gaps

    • After boards are secure, fill any large gaps or unevenness with a suitable filler—ensure it is compatible with the vinyl adhesive and will not shrink or crack.

Fill gaps / level surface (Grout for tiles/filler for floorboards)

    • Allow adequate drying/cure time

  3. Apply a NON-POROUS SURFACE PRIMER

    • Mapei Eco Prim Grip (best)

    • Ardex P82 / P51

    • Bostik UltraPrime
